Background:
Secondary schools can now receive support through collaboration with English Hubs and associate secondary schools. Supporting secondary schools will create opportunities for primary and secondary schools to collaborate more closely, share best practices, and learn from each other. This collaboration will also help ensure smooth transitions for children moving from primary to secondary education.
We are able to support a limited number of secondary schools with an audit of reading provision in KS3, support from a Literacy Specialist and funding towards eligible reading programmes and resources.
Support will include:
-
A school-based audit of reading provision across KS3
-
Funding towards reading resources, assessments, interventions and CPD
-
6 days of tailored Literacy Specialist support across 2 years
-
Signposting to DfE-funded CPD
-
Supporting leaders to plan effective whole-school approaches
-
Building staff confidence in supporting struggling readers
