Secondary School Support

In 2025/26, the English Hub Programme will launch a new pilot designed specifically for secondary schools. The pilot aims to help schools make reading a whole-school priority and provide targeted, evidence-based support for pupils with reading needs.

This comprehensive support offer includes:

• A full audit of your school’s reading, oracy, and reading intervention provision, carried out by one of our experienced Literacy Specialists, with tailored support for action planning.
• Up to three days of in-school support from a secondary Literacy Specialist to embed effective reading strategies and approaches.
• Match funding of up to £3,300 (for eligible schools) to invest in high-quality resources and training.
• Training opportunities and an annual conference focused on improving reading and literacy across the secondary phase.

At this stage, this pilot is open to mainstream secondary schools and academies only.
